Broadway comes to Leicester as Curve announces Christmas 2011 show!

Following the run away success of Curve’s production of ‘The King & I’ over the Christmas period and into this January, the team at Curve have revealed that the Christmas 2011 show will be, drumroll please…..legendary Broadway Muscial ’42nd Street’!

This new production is an all singing, all dancing homage to the glamour and glitz of New York City in the 1930’s.  With hit tune after hit tune and high energy choreography this musical will have audiences toe tapping all the way home when it runs at Curve from 2nd December 2011 – 14th January 2012.

’42nd Street’ is the inspiring story of small-town girl Peggy Sawyer and her meteoric rise from the anonymity of the chorus line to the spotlight of the Broadway star. Based on the novel by Bradford Ropes and the subsequent 1933 film adaptation, it follows Peggy and her associates efforts to mount a successful stage production of a musical tap extravaganza at the height of the Great Depression.

Curve Artistic Director Paul Kerryson (who helmed The King & I) says:

“42ND STREET is the quintessential feel good musical.  2011 will see a full programme of exciting theatre at Curve and we also wanted to give our audiences something really breathtaking to look forward to at Christmas following the fantastic response to THE KING AND I.”

Including unforgettable tunes such as Lullaby Of Broadway, We’re In The Money, Keep Young And Beautiful, I Only Have Eyes For You and, of course, the title number, 42nd Street, the show offers the perfect combination of dancing, music and drama.

Tickets are on sale NOW from www.curveonline.co.uk or from the Box Office at the theatre itself.
